Reports to: Country Manager
Purpose of role:
Ariya Finergy Holdings Ltd (“Ariya”) is an experienced developer of and investor in clean and
renewable energy projects with the ability to finance, own and operate such projects through
proprietary structures.
Ariya is looking to add a Maintenance Engineer whose role will be to manage the operations and
maintenance activities for solar PV power plants.
The Maintenance Engineer should have experience in maintaining and troubleshooting grid-tied
solar PV plants of a commercial scale.
The objectives of the roles are:
• Ensure effective delivery of all scope defined in the O&M contracts.
• Managing systems to enable effective, consistent and comprehensive performance
monitoring, inspection and preventative maintenance of solar plants.
• Development of technological interventions to improve customer experience in terms of
customer friendly monitoring applications.
• Site assessment and data logging for sizing of new potential sites for pipeline clients
identified.
• Aid in design of new systems for pipeline clients.
• Any other duties as assigned by country office.
The position is based in Kampala. The Maintenance Engineer will report to the Country
Manager.
It is possible that the role will evolve to include travel to visit sites around the country and in
neighbouring countries.
Experience & Expertise
Educational background
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on mechanical or electrical engineering.
Two years minimum, 3+ years preferred of proven working experience on maintenance of
solar PV projects.
Recognised solar PV training course from a reputable institution.
Registration with a professional body such as ERB, UIPE is an added advantage.
Possession of ERA permit is an added advantage.
Skills and Knowledge
Planning and scheduling of maintenance activities
Troubleshooting unplanned breakdowns on solar PV equipment
• Data analysis of solar PV performance values
• Writing reports in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Data logging and installation of energy monitoring equipment
• Liasing with clients and other stakeholders
• Managing tools, spares and stock items
• Managing subcontractors
• Specification and procurement of necessary materials
Other experience: The applicant should have:
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a global team sharing expertise;
• High diligence and patience to proper design procedures and documentation;
• The ability to self-motivate and complete work assignments under pressure;
• The ability to network with Ariya customers, business partners, staff and management at
all levels
• Excellent communication and analytical skills in both written and spoken English.
