Operations & Maintenance Manager – Large-scale – Hardap, Namibia


The main role of the Solar PV O&M plant Manager is to effectively Manage the PV plant operation and maintenance with best industrial practices including optimum spare management, warranty management, people management, HSE management, and local statutory & legal compliances


1. Manage complete site functionally-HSE & Q Management, Operations Management, Maintenance Management, PV Plant Performance Management

2. Manage complete site administratively-Security Management, Resource Management, Manage Customer and Stakeholders

3. Implementation of preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations i.e. PV Inverter, PV Modules, Transformers, Medium voltage switchgear panels, and high voltage substation

4.Inspection, test, diagnose, and replace PV panels

5. Inspection, test, diagnose, repair, replace and maintain cables, cable inter-connections, PV junction/string boxes, connectors, and fuses in PV systems

6. Inspection, test, maintain, diagnose and replace transformers

7. Inspection, test, diagnose and maintain HV substation equipment

8. Inspection, test, diagnose, repair, replace and maintain switchgear and control gear in PV systems

9. Inspection, test, diagnose and maintain CCTV system, SCADA system and

10. Root cause analysis of repeated fault in electrical installation

11. Incident and significant event reporting to customer and local authority as per contract and local regulations

12. Report significant events to O&M Manager

13. Any other duties, as assigned by the O&M Manager, in line with the role.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of Engineering Degree in Electrical
  • Minimum 5 years of Experience in operation and maintenance of LV, MV, and HV electrical systems preferably in a Power plant or refinery or steel plant out of that minimum 3 years in a solar PV plant with capacity more than 30 MW
  • Working knowledge of power system protection
  • Able to read and interpret electrical, civil, and mechanical drawings
  • Demonstrated experience in customer handling and reporting
  • SCADA: able to Monitor, analyze data, investigate and report on trends
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Must be able to interpret contract documents and take actions required
  • Able to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing in English
