13 Oct 2022

From 27 till 29 September, renewable energy professionals gathered in Cape Town to attend ARIS – the Africa Renewables Investment Summit.

More than 300 delegates from 22 countries participated in the 3-day event which aimed at catalyzing renewable energy investment across the continent.

Investment remains a critical component of Africa’s energy transition journey. In order to achieve a real energy transition and a robust renewable energy value chain on the continent, there needs to be a determined and concerted effort to promote investment.

Renewable energy developers, institutional investors, development finance institutions, technology suppliers and African government stakeholders were present to discuss the hottest African renewable energy projects and programs.

The event put a strong emphasis on targeted B2B match-making, and more than 250 meetings took place alongside the numerous presentation sessions.

This event was open to AFSIA members and non-members, and the participation from our members SustainSolar, Empower New Energy, Advanced Maritime Transports, Aptech Africa, GreenYellow, IBL Energy, Jinko Solar, Namene Solar, SegenSolar, CrossBoundary, AIIM, Jubaili Bros, InfraCo Africa, Sterling & Wilson were particularly noted. Empower New Energy also enjoyed the event to announce and officially sign a $74 million financing agreement with Norfund and Climate Fund Managers.

ARIS was co-organized by AFSIA, GET.invest, SolarPower Europe, the Global Wind Energy Council, and Renew Africa Biz.
